St George's School in Ascot is one of the country's leading girls boarding schools. It has been running since the early part of the 20th century and previous ex students include Winston Churchill (before it became a girl’s school) and the granddaughters of the Queen. It is only about 30 minutes from one of the Royal homes in Windsor. We are very fortunate to be able to work with this school and 2012 will be our 5th summer there. In 2012 we will be running courses for students from 11 - 15 at St Georges.
As with our other centres we are the only school here in the summer, so you will not be sharing the facilities with other organisations. We feel this is important and gives us the opportunity to make St George's a real UIC centre.
The facilities at St Georges are really spectacular, and include:
Outdoor heated 25m swimming pool Modern gym (big enough for 4 badminton courts) 8 tennis courts modern bright cafeteria modern arts and theatre complex with a 150 seat theatre 20 acres of fields including football pitches and track Assembly Hall Computer Room
In addition there are modern classrooms with all the necessary equipment,
Accommodation is arranged in rooms with different numbers of beds, the majority of the rooms are single and are arranged in small groups where 4 or 5 rooms share a lounge and a small kitchen. There are also twins, triples and a couple of rooms with 4 or 5 beds.
Members of staff sleep in the same areas as the children to ensure safety and security. There are plenty of showers and toilets and obviously separate areas for boys and girls.
One of the great things about having such a long standing relationship with the school is that the staff there know us and know what we need. The cleaning and catering staff are the same as during the main school year, so the standards are extremely high. We have designated rooms for our staff - teachers' room, welfare room and office so we are able to properly manage the operations.
The school is the town of Ascot and is very safe and well protected. It is a 5 minute walk to the rail station and the town. In Ascot you can find a post office, banks, supermarkets, coffee shops, a hospital and of course the horse race track. For shopping we organise regular trips to nearby bigger towns - Bracknell, Reading and of course London. |
